TEES

Above: Black Bear limited edition tee by Always With Honor

I’m super bummed to miss out on an Always With Honor (love them!) Black Bear tee. Sure, there’s a few remaining in the extra small and small sizes… but, between you and me, I haven’t worn a size small tee in polite company in many, many years. But, it’s not all bad news on the tee front… I did manage to secure a couple of tees from Philadelphia outfit Print Liberation. The pumpkin tee is mine, the Apple tee is Dan’s. Nice.

NEW MAGAZINES

I receive a regular email from London magazine store R D Franks letting me know of the latest titles they have in stock. It’s a simple listing; I like it. But I especially like the video Dutch magazine emporium Athenaeum Boekhandel have recorded doing the same thing (well, I assume that’s what the video’s all about). A picture, er, video, says a thousand words after all. R D Franksters, you need a blog. Yaay! Groovy.

GQ

“The guy who reads GQ today is someone who’s interested in everything from pop culture to finding that $1,000 suit.” Oh dear, GQ used to be so much cooler.

ALFRED TRIVINO

Alfred Trivino, Chief Designer, News Limited, talks about the thinking behind the recent redesign of The Australian newspaper.

Interesting vid. The design looks good, albeit a little conservative. I wish the designers had been more “young and free” in their thinking.

Wonder what Mark Porter thinks.

MODERNIST

Above: Modernist Britain greeting cards by Stefi Orazi

In Gym Class Magazine issue #03 we featured the work of London-based graphic designer Stefi Orazi. We even gave away 10 packs of her Le Corbusier badges to some lucky Gym Class Magazine readers.

Stefi’s ace… and so are her 2009 Modernist Britain greeting cards. We’ve picked up a couple of packs… and we love ‘em! Stefi’s also running a competition… one pack of her Modernist Britain cards has a lucky golden ticket inside! The person who gets the lucky ticket will win one of Stefi’s BT Tower prints (worth £120). Now, that’s one heck of a Christmas gift! Sadly (for us), the golden ticket wasn’t in either of our two packs. But we’re still winners… and so too are the people on our Christmas card list!

Lucky for you, the golden ticket’s still out there… to be won… by you (maybe!). Check out all six of Stefi’s cards here. And, good luck!

Don’t know what I’m going on about? Well, read this.

PIMP MY BABY

Above: Wired’s hyperreal pimped-up baby compared to Fact’s bundle of, er, joy

I heart Wired magazine, that’s a given. I love the hyperreal vibe it’s got going on. But sometimes it’s good to have a hyperreal reality check. What’s the moral of this here story? Simples: kids, use condoms… baby’s don’t come airbrushed. That’s all.

Oh, by the way, there’s an archive of Fact covers here and an interesting post about the magazine here. Show some linky, link love.

UNWRAPPING

Stopped by the Monocle Shop in London a while back and picked up the latest issue. It comes wrapped up all fancy like. Nice. And the posh young lady working there was very friendly and helpful, too. All in all, a win.
